Summary
Life Below is an upcoming real-time strategy management game from developers Megapop and publisher Kasedo, due for release in 2026.
In the game, the player takes on the role of a personification of Earth’s life force, Gaia, sending out octopuses to cultivate barren seafloor.
The player must build coral cities and keep the aquatic species happy, as well as protecting them from threats including changing biome, infestations, and fluctuations in algae levels.
Although the game has ecological themes, it is being positioned as a proper strategy game, rather than edu-tainment, and is also designed to be highly accessible.
It will be interesting to see whether the game can offer novel mechanics, or whether it will be viewed as a Little Mermaid skinpack for Cities: Skylines.
A demo is set to be released during Next Fest in June.
