Summary
Relic Entertainment has announced Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Definitive Edition to “optimise” the 2004 real-time strategy game for modern hardware.
The game will include nine different armies, 200 maps, and upscaled textures, as well as image-based lighting.
The company says in a press release that “world lighting, unit reflections and shadows” have been improved and new gloss and emissive lighting has been added.
The game will be compatible with over 20 years of fan-made mods.
However, some have criticised the move as a way for the company to make a quick cash grab while it works on a newer, more innovative title.
Fans can currently purchase an Anniversary Edition of the game on Steam for 80% off until 29 May.
