Summary
Yuji Horii, the writer and creator of Dragon Quest, has commented that he is contemplating a Chrono Trigger remake to celebrate the game’s 30th anniversary having previously denied such rumours last week.
This follows Square Enix’s announcement in March that it would be celebrating the milestone with “various projects”.
The potential remake would be the second for Chrono Trigger, which was first released in 1999, afterSquare Enix released a optimized version for the Nintendo DS in 2011.
Despite Horii’s referring to contemplation of a remake, commentators have observed that his remarks could be interpreted as stronger, with one referring to his comments as ” defends his plans”, and another stating “[Horii] wants to do something”.
Commentators have noted that the game’s creator, Hironobu Sakaguchi, has previously wished to remake the game.
