Summary
Metro 2033 turned 15 this month, and the blog from its maker 4A Games is celebrating the past while looking forward to the future of the series.
While the unnamed Metro 4 has been announced, the development company has said that it will be released when it’s ready, amid the difficulties of creating the game under the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The company states that the invasion has changed the narrative tone, making the story darker and more politically anti-war.
Originally borne as a novel by Dmitry Glukhovsky, the first game was published in 2005 and centred on life in Moscow metro tunnels after a global nuclear war.
The author, who is now overseas, criticized Russia’s invasion and was subsequently arrested in absentia.
4A Games states that collaboration with Glukhovsky will continue.
