Summary
Stardock and Oxide Games have developed a sequel to the popular sci-fi real-time strategy game, “Ashes of the Singularity”.
The original game was criticised for lacking originality and there being nothing to differentiate it from existing games on the market.
Its sequel aims to address this by featuring humans fighting alongside robots and post-humans, with battles taking place across continents comprising thousands of units.
The game is set to be released in 2026, a decade after the first game, and its narrative also takes place a decade after the original too.
The game will have a significantly expanded development team and will feature co-operative and competitive multiplayer and a skirmish mode.
It is being marketed as a game that rewards players for understanding the importance of strategic planning, including logistics and terrain.
