Summary
Electronic Arts (EA) is making it mandatory for gamers wanting to participate in the Battlefield 6 open beta to enable secure boot on their PCs, in a bid to curb cheating.
The move is in line with its predecessor, Battlefield 2042, and in addition to anti-cheat software, EA is using secure boot to ensure only safe software runs on players’ machines.
Windows 10 and 11 users will usually have the setting enabled by default, and it shouldn’t cause much inconvenience, but those with other setups may find it more difficult to access the game.
The open beta for Battlefield 6 begins on 7 August (early access) and 9 August (general).
Players are advised to check their settings ahead of the launch, and EA has published maps and modes which will be included in the beta along with feedback-inspired changes.
