Over three decades later, Nintendo remembers the Virtual Boy exists

Nintendo fans in the US and Canada will be able to buy a 100VirtualBoy−shapeddockfortheNintendoSwitch,oracheaper25 cardboard holder, both of which are required to play Virtual Boy games on the Switch or Switch 2 from 17 February 2026.
Takahashi Nobuo, who created the original 1995 Nintendo accessory, has designed the replica accessories.
Players will need to use a Joy-Con or Joy-Con 2 controller to play the games, which will be available to download with a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription, and will be displayed in split-screen mode, viewed through special lenses to recreate the Virtual Boy’s original resolution.
Nintendo has not announced any replicates of the Virtual Boy’s unique, dual D-pad controller.
