Summary
The price of the PS5 console will increase by $50 in the US, effective from 21 August, due to “a challenging economic environment”, according to Sony.
The rise will affect the PS5 Digital Edition, standard PS5, and PS5 Pro consoles, with the Digital Edition now 500,standardPS5550, and PS5 Pro $750.
This is the third price hike by a games console maker in recent months, with Microsoft raising prices for its Xbox Series S and X consoles in March, and Nintendo raising prices for its Switch 1 consoles and accessories in August.
However, there is no word on a price rise for games or accessories, and the increase currently only affects the US.
