Tiny, removable “mini SSD” could eventually be a big deal for gaming handhelds

Chinese company Biwin has developed an SSD card with read speeds of up to 3,700MB per second, roughly the same as the current microSD Express standard.
Dubbed the Mini SSD, the card measures just 15 by 17mm thick, about the size of a standard SIM card.
It uses LGA packaging to squeeze NAND chips and an SSD controller into this tiny package, and is aimed at gaming portables.
The GPD Win 5 and OneXPlayer Super X are among the first devices to support the new card, which will be available in capacities of 500GB to 2TB.
The new Nintendo Switch 2 raised the bar for game cartridge performance, helping to popularise the microSD Express standard.
