Citing “market conditions,” Nintendo hikes prices of original Switch consoles

Summary
Game console manufacturers Nintendo and Microsoft have incurred a number of price hikes this year due to the slowness of chip manufacturing development, inflation, and worldwide tariff wars.
Nintendo has just announced further price increases in the US on its original Switch hardware, Amiibo, the Alarmo clock, and some Switch and Switch 2 accessories; these will come into effect from 3 August.
There are no planned increases to the console itself, Nintendo Online memberships, and physical and digital games at this time, but the company has stated that future price adjustments may be necessary.
This may affect Microsoft’s console sales, as the more powerful Series X device is only $50 more than the Nintendo Switch 2, potentially tempting consumer away from the hybrid console.
