With 1.2.2 update, Civilization VII tries to win back traditionalists

Summary
Civilization VII, the latest game in the turn-based strategy franchise, has received a significant new update, in the form of version 1.2.2.
This adds a range of customisation options, allowing players to tailor the game to their preferences.
The most significant addition is the option to disable “Legacy Paths”: structured objectives leading to rewards that transition between different Ages.
Whilst welcomed by some, others felt that these undermined the sandbox nature of the game, so their optional exclusion is sure to be welcomed by purists.
Also now able to be switched off entirely, or individually, is the game’s Crisis urgency system, which adds an extra layer of strategy near the ends of Ages.
The only setback is that these updates are unavailable on the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, with no date for their arrival slated.
