Switch 2 users report online console bans after running personal game “backups”

Summary
Nintendo Switch users are reporting that using the Mig Flash cartridge to run backup copies of games on the Switch 2 console is leading to bans from the Nintendo online service, even when the backups are of games the users have purchased legally.
The Mig Flash enables users to play Switch games loaded from an SD card without having to modify the console.
The device’s developers issued a firmware update enabling the cards to run original Switch games on the Switch 2.
However, messages on social media and Reddit are warning users not to use the Mig Flash, as Nintendo can detect use of the device and ban consoles from its servers.
Although the company uses cryptographic signatures to spot pirated game sharing, using the Mig Flash to run personal legal backups should not trigger any such signature conflicts.
