Mario Kart World review: Getting there is half the game

Summary
Mario Kart World is a new instalment of the Mario Kart franchise for the Nintendo Switch 2 (formerly the Nintendo Switch lite).
It builds on the established formula of previous games in the series whilst adding a variety of new features, modes and driving techniques.
This makes the game a little inconsistent at times but also ensures it provides a shot of new ideas to prevent the franchise from becoming too stale.
One of the most noticeable changes is the increase in the number of characters and karts on the track from 12 to 24, which was doubled from the previous title, Mario Kart 8.
Whilst this showcases the improved processing power of the Switch 2, it also adds to the chaos of the game as the probability of picking up items increases whilst crossing “question-mark boxes.
