Summary
OpenAI has developed Deep Research, an artificial intelligence (AI) agent that explores the web and produces in-depth reports based on information it finds.
It is trained to analyse and summarise written human text, and can be used to perform white-collar office tasks such as report writing and presentation creation.
“It is indeed excellent. Congrats to the folks behind it,” wrote Stripe CEO Patrick Collison on social media about the AI agent.
The AI agent has impressed professionals the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, with one describing it as being able to carry out 40 hours of medium-level work and only needing an hour to be checked.
OpenAI is considering offering the advanced agents at a premium, with investors told that agents capable of doing “Ph.D.-level work” could cost $20,000 per month, although details of such a plan remain unclear.
