Truth Social’s New AI Chatbot Is Donald Trump’s Media Diet Incarnate

A new AI chatbot called ‘Truth Search AI’ has been launched on Truth Social, and is reportedly biased in favour of right-wing media outlets, failing to source information from any centre- or left-leaning outlets.
The chatbot pulled data from Fox News, Fox Business, The Washington Times, The Epoch Times, Breitbart, Newsmax and JustTheNews.com, in response to queries on a range of topics, even political ones.
Perplexity AI, the company that powers the chatbot, has been criticised in the past for scraping data from websites in violation of the Robots Exclusion Protocol, as well as creating false information.
The chatbot itself denies claims of bias, claiming its data sources depend on the query results, however, this doesn’t appear to be the case.
Examples of the chatbot’s responses have shown it gives reasonable answers with numerous sources, most of which are from right-leaning news outlets.
The interoperability between AI and social media has once again called into question the need for regulation of these technologies.
