These Democrats Think the Party Needs AI to Win Elections

Summary
Ahead of the US midterm elections, the country’s National Democratic Training Committee (NDTC) has released an “official playbook” on the responsible use of AI by political campaigns.
It includes advice on how candidates can leverage AI to research districts and opponents, create social content and write voter outreach messages, while also warning against the unethical use of AI, such as the deepfaking of opponents.
“AI and responsible AI adoption is a competitive necessity.
It’s not a luxury,” says NDTC senior instructional designer Donald Riddle, adding that the committee hopes the lessons will give Democratic campaigns using the technology “that competitive edge”.
According to NDTC CEO Kelly Dietrich, the training could enable smaller campaigns to compete with larger campaigns “at any scale, everywhere”.
