Summary
During its first developers’ conference in San Francisco on Thursday, Anthropic unveiled two new AI chatbot models, Claude 4 Opus and Claude Sonnet 4.
Sonnet 4 will be available to all users, while Opus 4 will be provided to subscribers only.
Both will be able to plan, remember the context of conversations and reason.
They will also be able to play the game Pokemon, with Anthropic’s CPO Mike Krieger stating Claude 4 Opus was able to play Pokemon for 24 hours, compared to the 45-minute limit of its predecessor.
This is being showcased on a Twitch stream called ‘Claude Plays Pokemon’, with the aim of demonstrating how Anthropic’s Claude is learning to analyse and make decisions in complex tasks.
It also forms part of Anthropic’s goal of creating powerful AI agents to sell to consumers.
