Summary
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has launched a large language model called the PAN model, along with an AI agent called PAN-Agent, and a research centre in Silicon Valley as it looks to ramp up its AI investment and activities.
The PAN model is designed to create physically realistic simulations that can be used to test and train AI agents.
PAN-Agent, an experimental agent trained to perform reasoning tasks, is the first AI agent to be trained using the PAN model.
The new research centre in California’s Sunnyvale will help the UAE access the world’s leading AI talent and knowledge.
In addition to the PAN model, UAE’s Mohamed Bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) also revealed two large language models: K2, a 65-billion parameter model optimised for reasoning, and Jais, described as the world’s most advanced Arabic-language LLM.
