North Korean government is taking advantage of the number of people now working remotely to find IT jobs around the world and send money back to the government.
Their hackers and scammers are pretending to be job seekers and going through the entire hiring process at companies, oftentimes working for months before being discovered.
In one case, a North Korean citizen was working as the facilitator for many of these fake employees and was paid a percentage of each of their salaries - a percentage that amounted to over $17 million.
The US government has started to crack down on these operations and prosecute those that are caught.
Cybersecurity expert, Simon Wijkman, who inadvertently interviewed a few of these scammers and then conducted a counter operation of his own.
